I remember most of these, back when it seemed it was important to learn about math, our country and our language. Now when I watch cartoons with my son they want to teach us what to buy, how to protect ourselves, and a whole bunch of Spanish.

No doubt! Simpler times, too. I tell my students how I learned my times tables (and the Preamble, for that matter) while watching Saturday morning cartoons (The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour was the BEST!) and the can't believe it. I wonder what kids learn these days from TV...

Whats important is teaching our kids how to read, write, and do math first. Second is to teach them proper manners which so many lack these days. Learning Spanish is not that important in my opinion. It should be the other way around when the spanish people learn how to speak our language instead of theirs.
