this is incredible I am really trying to get into tom waits. Can anyone recommend me like a classic album, I know its probably as hard to do as with bob dylan or someone like that; as there is so many great songs and sounds...but I love this sound, so a great album of bluesy folk songs that sound as dirty as whiskey would be amazing. I bought foreign affairs, and as good as it is its a bit jazzy I would like something a little more dirty :)

Wow...just ....wow. I ran across a mention of his singing in an article about some of the music he wrote for The Outsiders. I knew he was an actor, but I have been missing out. This particular performance made me remember John C. Reilly in the movie Chicago when he Sang Mr. Cellophane. Maybe apples to oranges, but it did. I've got some albums to find, it looks like. Thanks for posting this!

welllll.... its kind of like... cheese! Just got to develope a 'taste' for his music i guess. hehe. umm.. he has a unique style and musical nature to him. you should try listening to some of his newer CDs and you might find that you like him. Blood Money or Orphans are good ones. the music starts to stick to you and if you can understand his lyrics they are pretty meaningful. It's all opinion ya know? All my friends think im nuts for liking his music. I just like it.
