I honestly believe that the 2000 version had alot more raw emotion put into it by the singers, this one seems somewhat rushed and does not really connected with the emotions of losing their teacher, mentor and friend

but u shouldn't have to LOOK for emotion. i do like htis version of the ENTIRE thing better but the 2000 version did seem more eotional. thouhg in herod's song the 2000 verson took it to the max with emotion and sacrificed the actual musical aspect of it.

I don't think it is anti-christian. I think it just shows a little compassion to Judas. Maybe his intentions were good but the choice was misguided.

It may be true that this movie isnt all about jesus, but i think that the movie is about the things that jesus did and how that made other people feel.

the only thing i've ever heard of this being anti christian is the movie never depicted the resurrection and so seemed to deny it. this movie and the recording of the stage rock opera were part of my development. my father had the album from the musical play and took me to the movie later. i like the music and actors from both. i've never seen the 2000 version.

My Family was blessed to see the Broadway Production of "Jesus Christ Superstar". It was awesome! After the production, Judas, the performer, greeted the audience. I even took a picture with Judas.

the original broadway production or even london production is so much better. At parts the movie just came across as Cheezy, and while some of them especially yvonne elliman have incredible voices, I still prefer the broadway cast's better.

I disagree about the original Broadway version and the film. There's more "acting" in the film's songs of the film, which improves the songs. Just my opinion. For example, the King Herod in the film is funny when listened to on the album, whereas that's not true of the Broadway cast album. Although I love the dancing here, some of the visuals, I'll admit, are somewhat "homemade." I prefer the traditional 60s style production over the rather misguided leather fetish restaging from the 90s.
