Wow i am so interested in planes and seeing a plane take-off in a cockpit is rare to see. Normally you just see the plane taking off from the window inside the cabin.

the person filming this is sitting in what is called a jumpseat its a very small seat in the flight deck of the plane. I've been in the flight decks on several occasions and it always impresses me

Wow, it did eat up a lot of runway! I wonder what the weather was like...I think if it's hot and humid, that also effects the amount of runway needed as well, right?

Look, I get my rocks off on videos like this. Anyone who is lucky enough to have a job as pilot of one of these beauties is OBLIGATED to share this experience with all of us rumdums who lead ordinary lives. Just kidding. (No I'm not.)

humidit is more of a vis concern, but heat very much effects performance. Pilots use something called density altitude for determining performance (and takeoff lengths) Density altitude is pressure altitude corrected for non standard temp. Basicaly the hotter and the higher you go the worse your aircraft performs.

Thanks for the info! I thought I read somewhere that moist air effected engine performance. I might've just paired the two together since heat and humidity always goes hand in hand. At least, where I live anyway...

When we were redeploying back from Desert Storm the United 747 crew allowed me to sit up front on the flight from Bangor, Maine to Savannah, Georgia. That was so cool!! I was amazed watching the landing. The plane seems so slow to respond during the flare. That gives new meaning to the phrase "wiping out the controls".

that thing used up just about all the usable runway, including the displaced threshold. That runway was over 11,000 ft!

no its vry hard takeing off, well keeping it aline and rotaing at perfect pitch. im a qualified Cesna C-152 pilot and i fly all over the uk from leicester to coventry is my main flights. it looks vry easy but yu hav to concentrate very hard, eg if yu put rudder input at over 75 knts then the plane goes more than yud expect, but wunce airborne yu only have to aply a slight bit of rudder. the 747 wuld need alot, lol. if any problems please reply and im free to help? lol thanks. nice tak off thogh.
